The future has a bad attitude. Luc Devreux and Andrew Scott are UniSols: flesh and blood fighting machines whose memories have been erased and whose minds and bodies have been programmed by the military. They are warriors without fear or conscience and they act on command, no questions asked... until something goes terribly wrong. Slowly the two soldiers begin to slip from the control of their masters.

Against orders Devreux saves a young woman from a UniSol onslaught and escapes with her into the desert. But there is no hiding place from his former comrades-in-arms led by the unpredictable Scott, a man-machine confused, tormented and driven by nightmare memories of a war he thinks he is still waging. And so the relentless struggle begins - perfect warrior against perfect warrior in a battle both are determined to win.
