Description
A well-known adult film-maker from the '70s is brought out of semi-retirement by the offer of a job that will earn him some much needed cash. Unwilling to compromise his style and embrace the changes that 30 years' worth of developments have brought about, his experiences in the modern world of porn movies forces him to re-assess his life and the relationships his has with friends and family.
This controversial French film, starring legendary actor, Jean-Pierre Leaud cased outrage when the British film censors insisted that 11-second sequence be removed from one of the film's sex scenes. When released in its native France, The Pornographer could be seen in its fully uncut version by anyone over 16 years old.
Bertrand Bonello, the films' director commentated, "I am very surprised and upset. The film has been sold in over twelve countries and this is the first time such a thing happens. With the fine cast of this film, does it make all these people pornographers? - We are all pornographers."
The film received the prestigious Fipresci award at Cannes Film Festival 2001, and has gained critical acclaim from the international film festival circuit.
