The London Rock & Roll show took place on Saturday, 5th August 1972 and featured The Houseshakers, Billy Fury, Linda Gail Lewis, Screaming Lord Sutch, Roy Wood, The Platters, Gary Glitter, and The Coasters in addition to the five legendary artists featured on this DVD - Bo Diddly, Jerry Lee Lewis, Bill Haley, Little Richard and Chuck Berry. It was also the first music event to be staged at the world famous Wembley Stadium. The concert lasted for some eleven hours and was watched by an audience of 87,000 (the authorities had felt it necessary to restrict the possible maximum of 100,000 to this figure). The programme took the form of a special supplement issued by the London Evening Standard which made the prophetic observation that the concert could herald a whole new era for the stadium. The event was without question the concert of the year and a great moment in rock and roll history. This DVD release features the highlights of the performance by those legendary artists of rock and roll who came together on that day.
