Sci-fi triple bill. In 'The Terminator' (1984), James Cameron's much-imitated sci-fi classic, a humanoid cyborg from a future dominated by machines (Arnold Schwarzenegger) is sent back in time to kill the mother (Linda Hamilton) of the as-yet-unborn rebel leader John Connor. Meanwhile, the rebels also select an agent (Michael Biehn) to travel back in time and stop the Terminator, thereby ensuring that events follow their pre-ordained course. 'Rollerball' (1975) is set in the year 2018. The world is ruled by corporate powers, and one of the principle forms of entertainment is Rollerball, a fast paced sport played around a circular track. When the reigning champion (James Caan) becomes too popular, and refuses the corporation's request that he retire, the rules of the sport are changed in a deliberate attempt to get rid of him. The contestants now find themselves engaged in a game where the main objective is to kill your opponent. 'Robocop' (1987) is set in the near future. Detroit's soaring crime rate is unsuccessfully policed by a corporation that plans to build a new city where its workers can go about unmolested. When the new 'enforcement droid' proves unworkable, a murdered cop (Peter Weller) is wired into a computer-controlled titanium body and set to the task at hand. Unimpressed, 'Robocop' seeks vengeance on all sides...
