What happens when honest, hard-working father-to-be Hank (Bill Paxton), his unemployed slob of a brother, Jacob (Billy Bob Thornton), and sleazy good-for-nothing friend Lou find over $4 million dollars cash in a crashed plane? Aided by his increasingly cunning wife, Sarah (Bridget Fonda), Hank hatches a seemingly foolproof plan to keep the money a secretfrom the authorities. Or so he thinks. Mistrust and escalating greed soon turn to betrayal and ultimately to violence, as an ever-decreasing spiral of shocking events unfold.
