Ten years after their initial meeting in a trench during the First World War, two soldiers, Alf Stokes (Paul Shane) and James Twelvetrees (Jeffrey Holland) are reunited with the officer they saved, The Honourable Teddy Meldrum (Michael Knowles). Both James and Alf are taken on as staff for Teddy's aristocratic Brother Lord Meldrum (Donald Hewlett) who is head of a large, wealthy household. Series One of the comedy penned by David Croft and Jimmy Perry.
