When Mark Watson's (C. Thomas Howell) father refuses to financially support him through college he over-doses on tanning pills in order to try and get into Harvard on a Black Scholarship. Once at college he receives the usual ethnic stereotyping and finds himself falling in love with a black student who, he discovers, failed to win the scholarship because of him.
