The Haymarket Strangler - who killed five women in a series of brutal murders - had terrified Victorian London. Although protesting his innocence, Edward Styles was publicly hung for the crimes.
Twenty years later, distinguished novelist and social reformer, James Rankin (Boris Karloff) becomes fascinated with the case. Believing Styles to be innocent, Rankin's search leads him to the executed man's coffin where he discovers a scapel, the Strangler's murder weapon.
As the dancers and prostitutes at The Judas Hole musical hall become a target of a gruesome killer, it appears that the Strangler is at loose again. Could his spirit be guiding a new hand to horrific murder?
