Professional hit-man John Lee (Hong Kong action star Chow Yun Fat) double crosses crime boss Mr. Wei and goes on the run as a result. Determined to return to his homeland of China to protect his family from the Mafioso's henchmen, Lee enlists the help of document forger Meg Coburn (Mira Sorvino). However, Wei's killers are already on his tail and will stop at nothing to wipe him out.
