Three popular war movies. In 'Mosquito Squadron' (1968), with London being battered in the Second World War by the awesome Nazi V2, Squadron Leader Quint (David McCallum) is handed the task of leading the elite Mosquito Squadron on a perilous mission to destroy a secret Nazi weapon site. The Germans are rumoured to be developing a new V3 weapon, but the target site, a French chateau, also contains hundreds of RAF POWs. It is decided that the mission must go ahead, regardless of the possible casualties. In '633 Squadron' (1964), during World War II , the 633 Squadron are sent to Norway to destroy an overhanging cliff which will demolish a bomb factory below run by the German forces. The squadron Wing Commander (Cliff Robertson) must work with the leader of the Norwegian resistance (George Chakiris) towards the common goal of keeping the Nazis in check. In 'A Bridge Too Far' (1977), Dirk Bogarde, James Caan, Robert Redford and Sean Connery are among those battling against insurmountable odds - foul weather, bad luck, negligence on the part of intelligence officers - to secure one of the bridges essential to the Allied advance into Germany.
